It is very important for its success in the long run. Every organization in today's world consists of people who are from different backgrounds and whose culture is totally different from the others working in the same organization. Many companies these days deliberately adopt the approach of hiring people belonging to diverse cultures in order to promote unity and integrity. The companies following this approach are being promoted by government. Diversity Program in Workplace The author of this article talks about the American workforce. There was a time when the companies in America only consisted of American nationals. However, the time has come when the companies have now appointed personnel to deal with problems related to diversity in organizations. The companies are ready to pay high salaries to such personnel because dealing with such problems in imperative for long run success of the organization(Lindenberger, 2017). Retention of people is the main goal of organizations and this is done on the basis of talent and skills possessed by the employees and not to what culture or background they belong. The organizations are of the view that people coming from different places definitely come with different ideas and strategies. Those strategies and fresh ideas are very important for the smooth and fast running of the organization. It is important to respect fresh talent, their ideas and the perspective from which they think. The market always needs progressive and new ideas for the organization to stand in the market(Green, et al., 2002). The old, archaic and monotonous ideas will only let the customers shift over to competitors and any organization cannot afford to lose its customers. There is a direct need for companies to promote youth for their ideas because younger generation can come up with more creative and more talent. However, many problems are attached with this approach of introducing diversity in the organization and one of such problems is that the insecurities among employees rise and rise to a great extent. There are times when they do not get along with other employees belonging to different background easily, so they tend to maintain a distance from them and start assuming various things. This not only decreases their productivity, but also decreases the profitability of the organization as a whole. Generally, the people who are black face more problems and they do not get as much respect as the other people do(Winograd Mallett, 2008). Discrimination on the basis of caste, religion, place of birth, classism, homophobia, etc. and all the other forms of discrimination are a big culprit and should be eliminated from the nation as soon as possible. Out of all the problems, gender discrimination is the worst one(Greenberg, 2013). One should not discriminate the other in relation to caste, color, sex etc. It is a very general aspect that women are always considered to be underneath men and it used to be a taboo that women are bad entrepreneurs, but since the time has changed women are working at par with men. Discrimination against one person necessarily involves discrimination against another person. The term thus includes comparison. Where two citizens placed, more or less similar in all material respects, any State action placing one of them alone under a disadvantage, there would be discrimination against him(Victoria Government, 2011). It is a very major problem and this should be eradicated from the society as soon as possible. Not only United Kingdom but from other nations as well, it should be removed because it affects the society in a very negative way. It hampers the growth of the nation and makes the economy stagnant. The discrimination creates problems in recruitment and success rate lowers down when the people are not happy at their work. So, the removal of these problems is very important for the economy to rise Taking a closer view, it has been seen that diversity has now become much more than just discrimination between black and white. Diversity maintains and fixes all the close connections between people belonging to varied classes, creed, caste etc.The strength of diversity program the organization is that the young and zealous talent can be appointed and fit into the organization. However, coming back to weaknesses, the expenditure involved in recruitment and selection is very high and the amount spent on training the employees is also very high leading to disturbing the budget of the organization. The employees should be trained for as long as possible because experienced and well trained employees are proven to be assets for the organization. But the new employees are to be trained from the origin, thereby taking a lot of time and efforts of the authorities(Foundation Consulting, 2010). There are various tools which can be adopted in order to deal with such kind of problems. For an example, the personnel can be appointed especially for the purpose of maintaining a close nexus between employees coming from different background. The author says that it is important to make the employees feel that whatever they are doing, they are doing for the success of the company and for their own success, the cultural barriers should not hamper their growth(Shen, et al., 2009). Conclusion It is concluded from the article that to deal with the struggles of diverse backgrounds its very important to introduce the diversity programs in the workplace. The managers are responsible for the assessment and evaluation of the programs and it is an essential partfor Management to work in the team. The managers should do the planning and research work to deal with the different situations. The research involves the surveys to maintain the proper data and to analyze the results. The managers should apply the programs in every aspect to make the workplace problem free and all the employees work in a team to get the better results. The training of employees is important to work with diversity because it will help them in adapting the people of different cultures. The one who supervise and manager must be honest and work for the profits of the organization and talent management. As we know that the leaders and managers maintain a good relationship with the people so that they come to know about the exact problems and find out the solutions accordingly.
